Common Outlook Errors
Error: Constantly get "Outlook needs to close"
See if there are any events in the event viewer....
Delete or rename *.srs and outcmd.dat, found in C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. You can easily access
it by pasting %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook in the
Address bar of your browser or Windows Explorer.
Sync Errors
Ensure all appts (recurring) have end dates.
To backup
File -> Import and Export
  --> Export to a File -> next
    --> Personal Folder File
    This creates a *.pst file that can be copied to a cd
MSCONFIG
Run MSCONFIG and deleted an unknown program. This worked for
me. You may try running a disk cleaning program after a clean boot (no
programs or services started).
Event Viewer
Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>Administrative Tools>Event Viewer
Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst)
%CommonProgramFiles%\System\MSMAPI\1033 and it's called SCANPST.EXE.
Or access it, though, from Start>All Programs>Microsoft Office
Tools>Inbox Repair Tool.
You can find the *.pst file at:
C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
or try:
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Deleting and re-configuring your outlook profile
When you reinstall outlook sometimes your profile still hangs around on your hard dirve. Here is how to kill it.
Delete a user profile
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click the Mail icon .
On the Services tab, click Show Profiles.
On the General tab, click the profile you want to delete in the Profiles box.
Click Remove.
Reinstall Blackberry sync and you get the same message, install ADMPACK
ADMPACK
Microsoft has a fix for this! It is an Outlook add-in that allows you to customize the Outlook security settings. It is called ADMPACK. This is not 3rd party software. It is simply a patch that allows you to controll the security settings in Outlook. You can ADMPACK.EXE here:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/office/xp/all/reskit/en-us/appa11.mspx
The readme file tells you to make a registry change in HKCU\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Security, but I found it works better in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Security on a Terminal Server.
This works with OL 2000, 2002, and 2003
Outlook PST Password stripper (15 Nov. 2000)
You can download the tool from:
http://www.computerhope.org/download/updates/pst19upg.zip
Or from:
http://www.msexchange.org/files/pst19upg.zip
Provided by Lefkovics, William.
This utility was originally designed to upgrade the PST format to version 19. One of its side effects, however, is that it can strip out the PST password. This can therefore be used to recover passwords you may have forgotten on your PST files.
